North Greenville Defeats Converse to Take Lead in Conference Carolinas Standings

Tigerville, SC - North Greenville took a 3-0 victory over the Converse Valkyries to take the lead in the Conference Carolinas overall standings. NGU, now 6-1 in conference play, dominated the opening set while the second and third sets were competitive but ended with the Crusaders on top. Erin Allen posted 12 kills and 30 attacks to lead the team.

The Crusaders began on a strong note by taking an early 6-2 lead that included two kills by Erin Allen. Coverse closed their deficit to one point before NGU took back the momentum and didn't look back. A 9-1 run by the Crusaders put the set on ice. They would ultimately take the set 25-15.

After trailing 4-3 to begin set two, North Greenville stormed back with an 8-2 run to lead 11-6. The Valkyries would come back to tie the set at 12-12. From there, the two teams would trade points before NGU ended with five of the final six points to win set two 25-22.

A competitive start to set three resulted in a 10-5 lead by North Greenville. The difference would remain even throughout the majority of the remainder of the set. With the score 23-16, Converse put up one last fight with a 4-0 run. However, NGU would go on to score the final two points to win the set 25-20.

NGU will take a week off before facing the Lees-McRae Bobcats on Friday, October 18th in Banner Elk, North Carolina.
