Box Score Tigerville, S.C.—The North Greenville Volleyball team had its eight game win streak snapped on Friday night as the Erskine Flying Fleet earned a 3-0 win over the Crusaders to stay atop the Conference Carolinas standings.
The Crusaders hit just .086 in the first set as the Fleet cruised to a 25-15 win. North Greenville committed six errors while the Erskine pounded down 16 kills during the opening frame. The Crusader and Fleet battled to an even 13-13 score before Erskine created separation with an 8-0 run. Kenzie Pierce broke the streak with a kill to make the score 21-14 before the Fleet scored four of the next five to earn the 1-0 lead.
The Crusaders took a 6-2 lead early in the second set and led 22-18 late, as they looked to even the set total. The Fleet would score four straight coming out of a timeout and take their first lead of the game with a fifth consecutive point. NGU would play from behind but even the tally at 26 all before a service error and a kill by Kristin Dodge would doom North Greenville in a 28-26 loss.
The Fleet would once again out hit NGU in what would be the final set of the night. The Crusaders led early once again but Erskine would regain control at 9-6. Erskine finished the night with a 25-15 lead as NGU hit a game low .029 with 11 kills compared to 10 errors.
Yomi Adeyeye led all players with 16 kills while hitting a game high .560 for North Greenville. Hannah Lewis had 10 digs for the Crusaders while Madison Pogue dished out 29 assists. The Crusaders hit just .116 as a team.
North Greenville will host Benedict and Erskine Colleges tomorrow at 1pm and 5pm. Benedict and Emmanuel will play each other at 3pm in Hayes Gymnasium.
