Orangeburg, S.C.—The North Greenville Volleyball team hit
the road again Tuesday night looking to add another “W” to the win column by
beating Claflin University but the Lady Crusaders fell short dropping the match
to the Tigers 3-1.
The Crusaders and Tigers battled all night but Claflin gained an early advantage taking
the first set of the night 26-24 and the second set 25-22.
The Tigers carried a two game lead into the third set but
the Crusaders cut the deficit to one game after taking the third set 25-22. The Lady Crusaders found themselves
down 21-19 in the third match before taking the lead 22-21. Claflin tied the
match at 22 before North Greenville raddled off three straight points to take
the set 25-22.
NGU entered the fourth set looking to even the series but
the Crusaders fell behind early and were unable to close the gap as the Claflin
Tigers took the fourth set 25-19 to take the match.
“This was a dissapointing loss to a good team,” said head
coach Greg Mosely. “We are still beating ourselves with unforced errors against
good teams. We did not serve the ball well tonight and passing was an issue for
us. We will keep working on it though and we are looking forward to playing at
home tomorrow and extending our home winning streak.”
After five straight games on the road, the Lady Crusaders
will return home Wednesday night looking to extend their two game home winning
streak against Benedict College with the time set for 6:30pm.
