Trailblazers Come From Behind to Defeat Charleston

Tigerville – North Greenville erased a 17 – point deficit on Friday en route to a 42 – 31 win over the University of Charleston (WV). 
 
The Trailblazers were in a hole early as the Golden Eagles jumped out to a 17 – 0 lead with 7:40 left in the first half. The Trailblazers rallied scoring 21 – unanswered points including a pair of second quarter touchdowns which cut the halftime deficit to just three points. Jackson Parish got the Trailblazers on the board with a 2 – yard rushing score while Kam Montgomery capped the first half scoring with a rushing touchdown of his own with 27 – seconds left before halftime. 
 
A big turnover on downs for North Greenville's defense would set the stage for the third touchdown of the night for the Trailblazers as NGU took its first drive of the second half 70 – yards in six plays capping it with a Maurice Anderson 6 – yard rushing score. Anderson would finish the day with two scores and 46 – yards on seven attempts. 
 
After trading blows that included long passing touchdowns from each team as Kam Montgomery found Mikhai Isaac for 61 – yards out that made it 28 – 24 at the time, The Trailblazers would go ahead for good. Kam Montgomery's second rushing TD of the day would give NGU the 35 – 31 lead. Another defensive stop would lead to NGU's final score as Anderson turned in his second score of the game to make it 42 – 31. 
 
An RJ Glasgow interception would seal the victory on the ensuing defensive showing. North Greenville finished with 493 – yards of total offense including 255 – passing and another 238 on the ground. Kam Montgomery threw for 238 and ran for another 117 – yards and accounted for three – scores. Jackson Parish finished with 82 – yards on 12 – attempts and a score. 
 
Defensively North Greenville had three different players with nine tackles. Gavin Calhoun had a tackle for a loss to go along with his nine stops. 
 
Next up 
Back on the road for NGU as the Trailblazers head to Livingston to play West Alabama next Saturday.
