Tigerville, SC - The North Greenville Trailblazers were nearly able to overcome a double-digit deficit, but ultimately fell short against the Valkyries of Converse University with a final score of 72-66 this evening at Hayes Gymnasium. NGU kept things competitive in the first half, but a late run by Converse would put the Valkyries up by ten going into halftime. The second half would prove to be a thriller as the Trailblazers were able to eliminate the deficit and even take a one point lead with 11:15 remaining. However, Converse would put together another run to build their lead back to double digits. One final run by NGU would see the deficit go down to three, but this time Converse would remain ahead, ultimately winning by six. NGU led the night in fast break points with twelve but trailed by a large margin in second chance points 21-8.
CaDarrius Sowell finished with a nineteen performance as well as six rebounds, two steals, and an assist. Michael Wilson, Jr. posted nineteen points, four rebounds, two assists, and a steal.
Max Topham recorded eleven points, seven rebounds, three assists, and a steal.
NGU will face the Mountain Lions of Young Harris College on Saturday, January 25th at Hayes Gymnasium.
