Tigerville, SC - The North Greenville Trailblazers were unable to overcome a deficit in the first half, falling to the Bulldogs of Barton College with a final score of 72-65 this afternoon at Hayes Gymnasium. A competitive first half resulted in Barton threatening to open up the NGU deficit to near double digits to close out the half. However, a late three pointer by
Max Topham closed the deficit to six at the end of the half. Barton would hold the momentum to begin the second half, opening up the lead to double digits. North Greenville was able to pull within five, but ultimately was unable to close the deficit any further as Barton would hang on for a seven point victory. NGU finished with a .333 field goal percentage and struggled from three point range, where they made just five of twenty-five attempts. NGU did lead Barton in multiple categories with thirty points in the paint, fourteen points off turnovers, and eleven second chance points.
CaDarrius Sowell posted a twenty point performance along with four steals, two rebounds, and an assist. Michael Wilson, Jr. posted eighteen points as well as nine rebounds and a steal.
Ryan Djoussa also came within a rebound of a double-double with thirteen points, nine rebounds, two assists, and a block.
NGU will face the Valkyries of Converse University on Wednesday, January 22nd at Hayes Gymnasium.
