The North Greenville Trailblazers fell behind in a five set thriller but bounced back to sweep their second match of the day this afternoon in Aiken, South Carolina by falling to the Jaguars of Augusta University 3-2 but defeating the Falcons of the University of Montevallo 3-0. NGU and Augusta alternated sets, with the Jaguars winning the opening set 26-24 and set three 25-20 while the Trailblazers responded by winning set two 25-18 and set four 25-21. AU pulled ahead early in set five to lead 6-1. NGU bounced back to tie the score at 7-7. However, Auguata would take back over by scoring the next five points and eventually win the set 15-11. The two teams tied in service aces with eight for each, but the Jaguars led in kills, blocks, assists, and digs. NGU's second match of the day proved to be a dominating one for the Trailblazers, only committing four attack errors and recording eleven service aces and eight blocks as well as an impressive .378 attack percentage. After taking the opening set 25-17, North Greenville pulled away further in set two to win it 25-14 then completely dominate set five with ten kills and no attack errors to win the final set 25-9.
Samantha Ball finished the day with twenty-one kills and twenty-seven digs as well as six service aces and four block assists.
Elena Dyer was also impressive, posting eighteen kills, six block assists, and five digs.
Allison Ball provided thirty-five assists, fourteen digs, and seven service aces.
NGU will face the Pacers of USC Aiken tomorrow in day two of the USC Aiken Invitational in Aiken, South Carolina.
