The North Greenville Crusaders played a competitive game but ultimately fell this afternoon to the Eagles of Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University with a final score of 14-9 in Daytona Beach, Florida. NGU led the afternoon in total shots 46-38, but turnovers proved to be a factor as the Crusaders committed seventeen while the Eagles recorded just nine. The two teams both scored just one goal each in the first quarter while a closely-contested second quarter resulted in a one goal lead for Embry-Riddle going into halftime with a score of 5-4. ERAU pulled away in the second half with three goals in the 3rd and six goals in the 4th. The Crusaders would close things out with two of the final three goals, but the Eagles would hang on for a five goal victory.
Alex Brooks led NGU with 2 goals.
Bennett Matsler posted a goal as well as 12 ground balls and went 21-24 on faceoffs.
Austin Jones posted 11 saves at goalkeeper.
NGU will return to action on Friday, March 1st against the Bearcats of Lander University at Pepsi Stadium.
