The North Greenville Trailblazers began conference play with a victory as NGU defeated the Flying Fleet of Erskine College with a score of 75-70 in Due West, South Carolina. NGU finished the night with an impressive 43.4 shot percentage from the field. Erskine led by as much as seven early on, but the Trailblazers were able to slowly chip away at the deficit and eventually took the lead and pulled away throughout the remainder of the half to take a six point lead at halftime. The lead would remain around the same throughout the second half until NGU eventually led by double digits, seemingly putting the game out of reach. However, Erskine was able to put a score into NGU by scoring nine of the final eleven points. Time would eventually run out on the Flying Fleet though as North Greenville was able to hang on to a five point victory. NGU was able to take advantage of ten offensive rebounds, leading to thirteen second chance points while the Flying Fleet recorded just one second chance point.
