Tigerville, SC - The North Greenville Trailblazers were able to hang on to defeat the Lions of Paine College in the first home game of the season at Hayes Gymnasium. After falling to Paine in Augusta, Georgia on Thursday, the two faced off again with NGU coming out on top with a final score of 72-65. North Greenville put together a dominant first half, shooting 50% from the field to lead 42-28 going into halftime. The North Greenville lead remained around the same until ten minutes into the second half, when Paine put together a 10-0 run to cut the deficit down to eleven. Paine continued to cut into the lead, lowering the deficit to five with three minutes remaining. Ultimately, NGU was able to open the lead back up with four straight points by the way of free throws. A cheap steal and layup by Paine in the final seconds cut the final lead to seven for North Greenville.
Ryan Djoussa put together an impressive night, posting a double-double with seventeen points and thirteen rebounds.
Savion Brown posted eleven points as well as two assists and a steal. Michael Wilson, Jr. finished with eight points, seven rebounds, a steal, and an assist.
NGU will return to action on Tuesday, November 26th to take on the Flying Fleet of Erskine College in Due West, South Carolina.
