Tigerville – North Greenville rallied in overtime on Saturday afternoon to upend 24
th ranked Delta State 47 – 45 after four extra periods.
North Greenville took the lead midway through the second quarter and held on until the final seconds of the game. The Statesman who trailed by a touchdown drove 77 – yards in seven plays to even the game at 37 – 37 with 12 seconds left in the game. The toufchdown eventually sent the game in to overtime.
The two teams traded field goals in the first overtime and touchdowns and two point conversions in the second OT to send the game in to the two – point conversion portion of overtime. North Greenville relied on its biggest playmaker in each of its successful two – point conversion tries as Dre Williams came up with catches for scores.
Delta State connected on its two – point try in the third overtime but
Gavin Edwards ended DSU hope's of staving off the upset with a pass break up in the fourth and final OT to secure the North Greenville win.
Offensively, North Greenville gashed the Delta State defense to the tune of 459 – yards including an impressive 216 – yards on the ground.
Jacob Walker led the charge on the ground leading all runners with 151 – yards a carry and a touchdown. He averaged 8 – yards a carry.
Dylan Ramirez threw for four touchdowns and 243 – yards on 19 of 26 passing. Dre Williams was the leading receiver with 147 – yards on 12 – catches to go along with three touchdowns. He finished the day with three two – point conversions to go along with those scores.
Warren Coneway led North Greenville on defense with 12 tackles and half a tackle for a loss.
Termaine Epps finished with nine tackles and had NGU's only sack.
