NGU Matches Clayton State in Shots on Goal, but Falls to Lakers

The North Greenville Crusaders fell short in a 1-0 loss to the Lakers of Clayton State University earlier this afternoon in Morrow, Georgia. Although the Crusaders trailed by a wide margin in shots 24-8, NGU would equal CSU in shots on goal as both teams would finish with eight. A penalty kick goal would go on to be the only goal of the match as goalkeeper Michel Weber was charged with a foul in the box that allowed the Lakers to score what would on to become the winning goal.

NGU posted a total of five shots in the first half, with three of them being on goal. However, those three shots would all be saved by Clayton State goalkeeper Mauricio Uribe. Michel Weber would put up three saves of his own in the first half as the two teams would go into halftime scoreless. However, it wouldn't take long for the Lakers to get on the board as just over three minutes into the second half a foul by Michel Weber would result in a penalty kick goal. Clayton State turned up the offense in the second half, recorded fifteen shots throughout the half. Michel Weber would collect three more saves and record a shutout second half. However, NGU would put up just three shots throughout the half and although all three were on goal, Uribe would record three more saves to preserve the shutout.

Florian Schütt posted half of NGU's shots on goal, finishing with three. Kalvin Semedo also recorded three shots with two of them on goal. Goalkeeper Michel Weber provided five saves.

North Greenville will return to action on Saturday, September 23rd against the Converse Valkyries in Tigerville.
