Crusaders Score Three in First Half to Beat Shaw

Tigerville, SC - North Greenville defeated the Bears of Shaw University with a final score of 3-1 on a rainy evening at Pepsi Stadium. The first half proved to be a productive one as all four goals would be scored in the half. The two teams posted their share of shots, with the Bears slightly leading the final shot count 14-13.

Recap
  • In a busy opening half, the Crusaders would make quick work of things when Kalvin Semedo scored an unassisted goal less than five minutes in. Five minutes later, NGU would add a second goal when Christopher Holshner was assisted by Gareth Greene and Arthur Leray to make the score 2-0 just ten minutes into the match. Shaw would get on the board in the 18th minute with a goal of their own. However, North Greenville immediately responded when Gareth Greene score with assists by Carlos Navarro and Christopher Holschner. Things would finally settle down for the two teams, eventually going into halftime with the score remaining the same.
  • The Bears would begin the second half with some life, posting four shots in less than ten minutes. NGU's first shot of the second half would come in the 58th minute by Carlos Navarro. Shaw would go on to lead the second half in shots 8-3, but the two teams were unable to add any goals to the scoreboard.

  • Gareth Greene scored a goal and recorded his third assist of the season.
