Chaotic Final Minutes Result in Stunning Loss to Emmanuel

In a match that resulted in all three goals scored in the final five minutes, North Greenville ultimately fell to the Emmanuel College Lions with a final score of 2-1 in Franklin Springs, Georgia. It seemed that the match would go into overtime without a goal when the Crusaders were able to get on the scoreboard in the 86th minute. However, Emmanuel would tie the match just one minute later and immediately after would score the game-winning goal to stun NGU.

Recap
  • The first half would see the Crusaders completely dominate offensively, recording thirteen shots while allowing just one, which was not on goal. However, five saves would keep the Crusaders off the board as the score would remain scoreless at halftime.
  • A much more even second half resulted in four shots for North Greenville and five for Emmanuel. With the first forty minutes of the half remaining scoreless, it seemed that overtime would be required to settle the score. However, Carlos Navarro would get NGU on the board with a goal and an assist by Gareth Greene. With little time to spare, Emmanuel would instantly respond with a goal in the 87th minute. Just over a minute later, the Lions would stun the Crusaders with what would become the game-winning goal.
