Crusaders Even Up Record With Sweep of Benedict

Tigerville, SC - North Greenville returned to a .500 record with a 3-0 sweep of the Tigers of Benedict College this evening at Hayes Gymnasium. The Crusaders recorded a .181 attack percentage for the match while holding the Tigers to a -.034 percentage.

Recap
  • NGU was able to get off to a strong start with a solid opening set, posting twelve kills and just three errors for a .409 attack percentage. Benedict began with a 4-1 lead, but the Crusaders would take over from there, eventually winning the set 25-10. The Tigers struggled on attacks, recording four kills and four errors for a .000 percentage.
  • Set two saw both teams struggle, combining for fourteen errors with the Crusaders committing nine of them. Although Benedict once again posted a .000 attack percentage for the match, a .121 percentage by NGU would allow the set to be slightly more competitive with the Crusaders winning it 25-16.
  • The third set would be similar to the second with both teams struggling on attacks. NGU put up just a .071 percentage, but the Tigers would be in the negative for the set with -.087. The Tigers scored the first three points of the set, but NGU responded with nine straight points and would not look back. The Crusaders would go on to win the set 25-15.
Individual
  • Erin Allen led in kills with eight while also posting four service aces.
  • Paige Beisecker was not far behind, recording seven kills with three block assists.
  • Abby Pyke provided fifteen assists and three service aces.

  • NGU will return to action on Thursday, September 16th and will enter conference play against the Braves of UNC Pembroke.
