Crusaders Fall Short In Heartbreaker Against Coker

Tigerville, SC - North Greenville fell just short to the Coker Cobras this afternoon at Pepsi Stadium with a final score of 16-15. The Crusaders trailed for the majority of the game, but a fierce comeback tied the game up with two minutes remaining. However, a very late goal by the Cobras would prove to be just enough as NGU was unable to tie the game up before time expired. Thomas Cecere, Austin Zumbado, and Kyle Bollman all scored three goals each.

Recap
  • Coker would score the first two goals of the match, but the Crusaders would get on the board when Owen Ingham scored his 3rd goal of the season. Cam Webb would follow that up with a goal of his own to tie things up at 2-2. After a goal by Coker, the Crusaders would take the lead with goals by Thomas Cecere and Austin Zumbado. The Cobras would score a late goal in the 1st to tie the game at 4-4.
  • After an early goal by Kyle Bollman to begin the 2nd quarter, Coker would take the lead back and begin to pull away with four consecutive goals. The two teams would then trade two goals each, with NGU's scored by Kyle Bollman and Lucas Yearwood. The Cobras would take a 10-7 lead into halftime.
  • Coker once again began the half with the first two goals, but the Crusaders were able to come back with goals by Cam Webb and Austin Zumado to get back within three goals. A defensive quarter would result in the final two goals being scored by Coker as they would lead 14-9 going into the final quarter.
  • The Crusaders would put up quite the fight in the 4th quarter, with Devin Napoli, Thomas Cecere, and Kyle Bollman scoring the first three goals of the quarter. Coker responded with a man down goal to go back up by three with a score of 15-12. However, Austin Zumbado would score less than a minute later with an assist by Corey Long. After a goal by Thomas Cecere, Colin Courtney would come through with a game-tying goal with just two minutes remaining in the game. However, the Cobras would reclaim the lead with just 40 seconds remaining. Thomas Cecere would get a quality shot off, but Coker would hang on for the win.
