Cleveland, MS – The Crusaders overcame an 11-point, second half deficit and scored a pair of overtime touchdowns to hand Delta State a 42-34 loss in double-overtime.

How it Happened
First Quarter | A four yard touchdown run for the Statesman capped a 10-play drive and made it 7-0 8:21 left. North Greenville Countered with a touchdown pass from
Bryce Fields to
Joshua Edwards from five yards out.
Second Quarter | Another touchdown for the Statesman made it 14-7 with 10:22 left in the first half. DSU capitalized on an NGU turnover, scoring on a one-yard run. North Greenville got a pair of field goals in the frame to cut the lead to one before half. Collin Karhu knocked through a pair of kicks from 26 and 49.
Third Quarter | All Statesman in the third frame, scoring 10-points to take an 11-point edge. A 22-yard field goal and 30-yard touchdown run made it 24-13 with one quarter left to play.
Fourth Quarter | The big play propelled North Greenville to its first lead of the game. Fields connected with
Matthew Martin twice during the final frame of regulation, once from 91-yards and again from 71 to put NGU up 27-24. The Statesman pout through one field goal to even the score and failed to convert on a potential game winner, eventually sending the game to overtime.
First Overtime | Both team scored in the first overtime period with one coming through the air and one on the ground. The Statesman connected on an 11-yard touchdown pass for their score while
Semaj Lakin broke through on the ground from one yard out to even the score. Both extra points were good, forcing a second overtime.
Second Overtime | North Greenville took the ball and drove it 25-yards to take the lead in overtime two. Lakin once again crashed in from a yard out, earning North Greenville the lead. The Crusaders tacked on a two-point conversion when Field found
Christian Bruce from the two-yard line to extend the lead to eight.
North Greenville's defense would lock up the first league win of the season for North Greenville on the next drive for Delta State. A pair of incomplete passes and a sack-fumble from
Kwame Livingston (recovered by
De'Iveon Donald) would seal the deal.
