North Greenville out-gunned by #1 West Florida

Tigerville – NGU fell behind early on Saturday to the #1 West Florida Argonauts and were unable to recover, falling 52-10 to UWF in Gulf South Conference action. 

The Basics

How it Happened 

First Quarter | North Greenville's first drive ended in an interception that resulted in West Florida's first touchdown of the game. The Crusaders answered with a drive that lasted eight plays and took up three minutes of game time. The drive ended with a Dre Williams seven-yard run. Collin Karhu added the PAT to even it at seven. 

West Florida's big play offense added two more scores in the first frame including a 69-yard touchdown throw. West Florida quarterback Austin Reed threw for 294-yards and four touchdowns. UWF had 443-yards of total offense. 

North Greenville's final three points came on the foot of Collin Karhu who botted a career long  50-yard field in the first quarter. 

Second Quarter | The lowest scoring quarte of the game, the Argos tacked on a touchdown to make it 28-10. The Argos score four yard touchdown pass from Reed to David Durden. 

Third Quarter | Griffin Cerra added a field goal which extended the lead to 31-10 with 10-minutes left in the quarter. The Argos got help from their defense on the ensuing North Greenville drive, returning an interception 46-yards for a score. 

Fourth Quarter | Reed's fourth touchdown through the air and a 57-yard rushing score by Shomari Mason added more separation between the Crusaders and Argos before the final horn.

Inside the Box Score 

  • Christian Bruce led North Greenville with 63-yards receiving. Doug Washington added another 55-yards on five receptions. 
  • Dre' Williams had the only score of the game and finished with 39-yards on the ground. Cale Swift led the team with 43-yards on five carries. 
  • De'Iveon Donald led the defense with eight total tackles and a half tackle for a loss. 
  • Landon Spooner had the only sack of the game for the Crusaders and finished with three tackles.
