Box Score 2 North Greenville women's volleyball split the day with a 3-1 victory over Valdosta State and a 3-2 loss to Shorter University. The Crusaders hold a .500 record heading into their first conference match of the season.
Match 1
The Crusaders led the majority of Set 1, and put together a 5-0 run in the middle of the set. A 6-3 run by the Crusaders allowed them to clinch the set 25-18.
North Greenville trailed for the majority of Set 2, but a late rally won the set for NGU with a score of 25-21.
NGU held a 7-point lead in the middle of Set 3, but a 13-5 run by Shorter allowed them to take the set 25-18.
Set 4 proved to be a nonissue for the Crusaders as they pulled ahead early and ultimately won the set 25-18 to take the match.
Match 2
Shorter started off strong in Set 1. They led by as much as 10 and ended up with a 25-15 set win.
The Hawks dominated the 1st half of Set 2, but the Crusaders stormed back to pull within 3 points late in the set. SU was able to hang on to win the set 25-21.
Set 3 was played evenly most of the way. However, NGU would score 9 straight points to win the set 25-16.
The same applied to Set 4 as neither team would lead by more than 3 points. North Greenville would score 6 of the final 7 points to force a fifth set with a 25-22 win.
NGU took a very early lead in Set 5, but the Hawks would take the lead back and not give it up again. They won the set 15-10 to escape with the match.
Personal
Courtney Williamson had a productive day with 27 kills, 75 total attacks, and 35 digs.
Erin Allen finished the day with 15 kills and 46 total attacks.
Sara Miller provided 71 assists and 13 digs.
