Box Score Tigerville, SC - The North Greenville Crusaders were able to stay hot with a 3-1 win over the Barton Bulldogs. The Crusaders are now on a five-match winning streak with just one match remaining in the regular season.
Set 1
Both teams came out strong early on in the set. After a 13-11 Barton lead, NGU would force the Bulldogs to take a timeout with five straight points scored. North Greenville went on another strong run soon after with seven out of eight points to lead 23-16. Barton did not go down without a fight, however. The Bulldogs came soaring back with five straight points to make the score 24-22. The Crusaders were finally able to score the set-winning point by way of a kill by Courtney Williamson to take the set 25-22.
Set 2
NGU began the set with a 7-3 run. The two teams would trade points for awhile before North Greenville was able to start pulling away slowly but surely Momentum continued to stay with the Crusaders, and eventually they ended the set with seven of the final eleven points to win the second set 25-16.
Set 3
North Greenville once again began the set strong with eight of the first ten points. Both teams would trade points for awhile, but Barton would string together an 8-4 run to force NGU to take a timeout with a score of 15-13 in favor of the Crusaders. The Bulldogs continued to play with momentum on their side as they would score five points in a row to force another timeout by NGU with a 19-17 score, this time in favor of BC. North Greenville came back to tie the set at 19-19, but Barton continued to finish strong and ultimately won the set 25-22.
Set 4
The Crusaders took an early 7-4 lead. They would continue to build on the lead, forcing Barton to take a timeout with the score 11-6. NGU continued to slowly pull away, taking a 20-13 lead. Barton was finally able to get some momentum on their side with a 7-2 run to force a timeout with the score 23-20 in favor of North Greenville. However, it was NGU in the end who would close the set out with a final score of 25-22
Individual
Katie McManaway impressed with 18 kills and 49 total attacks.
Courtney Williamson made a strong impact in the match with 11 kills and 33 attacks.
Sara Miller provided 23 digs and 17 assists.
