Murfeesborough, N.C.—The NGU Volleyball Team split a two
match set today in North Carolina defeating Lincoln University 3-0 in straight
sets and dropping a match to Chowan 3-1.
The Lady Crusaders win over the Lions of Lincoln University
was their fourth straight win. North Greenville made quick work of the Lions
winning 25-13 in the first set followed by a 25-11 win and a 25-18 win to seal
the victory.
“We played well against a very athletic Lincoln team,” said
head coach Greg Mosely after the Crusaders fourth straight win.. “I’m very
pleased with Rebekah Mayes (outside hitter), she has very good numbers and
plays very consistently on defense and offense. Abigail Frame is also playing
well for us. She does a great job putting balls in areas that are easy for our
girls to play. She plays great defense as well.”
The Crusaders headed into the second match of the day
looking to win their fifth straight and looked poised to do so after picking up
a first set win 25-18. NGU played Chowan close for the next three sets but the
Hawks would prove too much for North Greenville however as they went on to win
the next three sets with scores of 25-20, 25-20, and 25-23.
“Chowan is a very good team. We handled them well but we are
still beating ourselves against good competition,” said Mosely. “We have to
work on limiting un-forced errors. It was a good weekend overall however we
have to get ready for another five game week this week. Hopefully we can get on
the right side of .500.”
