St. Petersburg, FL – North Greenville split its final two matches of its weekend in St. Petersburg this weekend defeating Puterto-Rico Mayguez 3 – 2 while falling to host Eckerd College 3 – 0 in the final match.
North Greenville and PR-Mayguez traded set wins throughout the day on Saturday with NGU opening up the first ever meeting between the two teams with a 25 – 17 victory. NGU also had set wins of 25 – 21 in the third and earned the five set victory with a 15 – 9 win. PR-M earned a 25 – 22 win in the second and a 25 – 21 win in the fourth.
Reagan Funderburk paced the Trailblazers offensively with 13 kills while hitting an impressive .600. Peyton Taylor added 11 kills and 16 points, while Samantha Ball also recorded 11 kills. Karson Haley chipped in nine kills, and Allison Ball finished with 27 assists.
North Greenville fell to Eckerd, 3-0 (25-16, 25-22, 25-21), Saturday at the McArthur Center.
The Trailblazers were led by Samantha Ball with 11 kills, while Reagan Funderburk added nine points. Anna Fiddelke hit .429 with 6.5 points as North Greenville battled throughout the match.
NGU's next match will be on September 4th against Lee University.
