Tigerville - North Greenville turned in one of its most impressive performances of the season on Wednesday dispatching Catawba College in straight sets 3 - 0 25-22, 25-22, 25-13) at Hayes Gymnasium.
The Trailblazers were sharp offensively all match, hitting an impressive .455 as a team while holding Catawba to just .240. After two competitive sets early, NGU pulled away decisively in the third, limiting the visitors to a .045 hitting percentage to close out the match.
Yoriano Velez Vega led the way with a dominant performance, tallying 16 kills on a .444 hitting percentage for a match-high 19 points. Thomas Roper added 11 kills on .455 hitting, while Landon Richter chipped in 6 kills and hit an efficient .556. Logan Keothavy contributed across the board with 5 kills and a team-high 4 service aces.
Andrew Copp orchestrated the offense with 33 assists as North Greenville finished with 42 total kills and just 7 errors. Defensively, the Trailblazers stayed steady, adding 5 blocks and 21 digs.
With the win, North Greenville improves to 11-10 on the season. The Trailblazers will take on Belmont Abbey Next Wednesday in Tigerville.
