The North Greenville Trailblazers pushed Lees-McRae to the limit but ultimately fell in a five-set battle with a final score of 3-2 this evening at Williams Gymnasium. NGU dropped the first two sets by scores of 25-18 and 25-22 before rallying to take the next two sets 25-19 and 25-22 to force a decisive fifth set. In the final frame, the Bobcats narrowly held on to claim a 15-10 win and secure the match.
North Greenville finished the match with 54 kills and a solid .250 hitting percentage while also totaling 51 assists and 42 digs. The Trailblazers were strong at the net with 19 block assists and kept pace with Lees-McRae throughout a tightly contested match that featured 30 ties and 11 lead changes.
Yoriano Velez Vega and Logan Keothavy led the offense with 12 kills each, while Thomas Roper added 10 kills and 8 digs. Landon Richter was highly efficient, recording 10 kills on a .500 hitting percentage along with 6 block assists. Jacob Koch also had a strong showing with 8 kills on a .438 hitting percentage and 5 total blocks.
NGU will return to action on Thursday, April 2nd against the Catawba College Indians at Hayes Gymnasium.
