Tigerville – A pair of tough losses today for North Greenville Softball as the4 trailblazers fell to Belmont Abbey 10 – 2 and 4 – 1.
A five spot in the first inning of game one put NGU in an early deficit. The Crusaders scored five runs on four hits including a three-run homer and a two – run double to do the damage. North Greenville struck back in the bottom of the second inning with an RBI sac fly from
Sydney Price.
Lexie Metcalf scored on the fly out to make it 5 – 1.
Belmont Abbey tacked on a run in the fourth inning and another big inning in the sixth with four runs including a three – run triple. The runs extended the lead to 10 – 1. The Trailblazers tacked on a second run in the bottom of the sixth with an RBI ground – out but were unable to cute in to the lead any further falling to the Crusaders in six innings.
North Greenville had five hits in game one including two from
Lexie Metcalf.
Sydney Price finished 1 – 1 with an RBI and a sac fly.
North Greenville took the lead early in game one with a run in the opening frame. The Trailblazers held on to the slim one run lead until Abbye broke through in the fourth inning with three runs. They added another score in the seventh to make it a three-run lead. The Trailblazers were held in check but had several opportunities. NGU stranded seven total runners. Six of which were in scoring position.
North Greenville worked the bases loaded in the bottom of the seventh but Abbey pitching worked around the trouble and ended the game with a strike-out to secure the win and the sweep.
Karley Green was 1 – 3 in game two and had NGU's only run.
Jordan Slocum finished 1 – 3.
Maddie Stone and
Sydney Price both finished 1 – 2.
