Home Runs Lead NGU to One-Sided Win Over Mount Olive

The North Greenville Trailblazers are one win away from advancing to the Conference Carolinas Championship game after defeating the Mount Olive Trojans with a final score of 12-4 in Duncan, South Carolina. After a scoreless 1st inning, NGU was able to jump on the Trojans with an early lead and ultimately went on to end the game early due to the run rule. Lexie Metcalf was able to get things started with a three-run home run before Sydney Price added to the lead with a two-run home run in the 2nd inning. Mount Olive responded with an RBI double in the bottom of the inning, but NGU would add to the lead with a bases-clearing double by Virginia Bishop in the 3rd. a two-RBI single by UMO cut the deficit to five, but Emily Blackwell would get a run back with a solo shot in the 4th. Mount Olive would get one more run on the board in the 4th, but North Greenville would pull away further in the 6th inning with a two-RBI double by Ari Day and an RBI single by Maddie Stone. Karley Green, who pitched the final 3.2 innings, closed things out to secure the win. With the win, NGU needs one more victory to advance to the championship series.

Sydney Price went two for three at the plate including a home run with two RBIs and two runs scored. Emily Blackwell also posted two hits including a home run as well as two runs scored and an RBI. Ansley Fowler finished her day with two hits and two runs scored.

NGU will face the Emmanuel Lions tomorrow at noon.
