North Greenville Splits Series with Belmont Abbey

Tigerville, SC - The North Greenville Trailblazers split a Friday conference doubleheader with the Crusaders of Belmont Abbey College on a stormy afternoon at Jan McDonald Field, winning game one with a score of 3-1 then dropping game two with a score of 9-2. Kylie Rast started both games on the mound. NGU quickly got on the board in the bottom of the 1st with an RBI single by Karley Green. Three scoreless innings would follow, but Belmont Abbey would put an end to the scoreless drought in the top of the 5th to tie the game with a run. However, NGU would quickly reclaim the lead with a two-RBI double by Ali Hartin. Kylie Rast would go on to record the win with a complete game. Game two began with five runs by BAC in the top of the 1st to knock Kylie Rast out of the game early. North Greenville was able to get on the board in the bottom of the 2nd with an RBI single by Lexie Metcalf, but Belmont Abbey would respond with a run in the top of the 3rd. Karley Green came through with a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the 3rd, but the Crusaders would add to their lead with a run in the 4th and two additional runs in the 5th. The scoring would stop there as BAC would go on to win by eight runs.

Ari Day finished her afternoon with three hits including a double as well as two runs scored. Kylie Rast pitched a complete game one, pitching 7.0 innings and allowing just one earned run on six hits and no walks while striking out five. Ansley Fowler and Ali Hartin both posted a double.

NGU will face the Bulldogs of Barton College tomorrow at Jan McDonald Field.
