Greenwood – North Greenville won its fifth and sixth games in a row on Tuesday with 4 – 2 and 6 – 3 wins over Lander University.
North Greenville trailed by a run early in the first game before a three – run fourth inning headlined by an
Ansley Fowler RBI single that plated a pair of runs. Maddi Stone also came around to score on a Bearcat error to make it 3 – 1. Lander tacked on another run but NGU added some security in the seventh inning on a
Maddie Stone RBI single.
Karley Green shut down the Lander lineup in the bottom of the seventh to secure the game one win.
Green pitched a complete game for NGU to improve to 6 – 2 on the season.
Maddie Stone finished 2 – 3 with an RBI and a run scored.
Ansley Fowler was 2 – 4 with a team high two runs batted in.
Ari Day also had a pair of hits for NGU and scored a run.
Ali Hartin was 2- 4 with a run scored.
The Trailblazers took an early lead in game two with two runs in the first inning.
Maddie Stone delivered another RBI base hit while
Karley Green would come around to score on a wild pitch. NGU got a big knock in the third inning when
Lexie Metcalf would clear the bases with a three – RBI double. Fowler, Day, and Stone would all come around to score, extending a one run lead for North Greenville after Lander scored two runs in the first.
The Bearcats inched closer with two runs of their own in the third inning but
Sydney Clark would stomp out any further damage by Lander, stranding a pair of runners in the process.
Ali Hartin would tack on one more run for the Trailblazers in the sixth inning with an RBI double that scored
Sydney Price. Clark would hold the Bearcats scoreless in the final two frames to earn NGU's sixth consecutive wins.
Ali Hartin finished game two with three hits in four appearances with an RBI and a run scored. Stone finished 2 – 3 with a run and an RBI.
Lexie Metcalf led all players with three RBI while going 1 – 4. Clark earned the win improving to 4 – 2 on the season.
