The North Greenville Crusaders pulled ahead in the 9th inning and were able to hang on for a 3-2 victory over the Bulldogs of Barton College to clinch the conference series in Wilson, North Carolina. Both starting pitchers gave up just one earned run to record quality starts. However, it would be
Nate Roof who would record the win after pitching 3.0 shutout innings to close things out. NGU took an early lead in the 1st by way of an RBI double by
Landon Shaw.
Thomas Powell was able to score in the 2nd inning due to a fielding error. Barton was able to tie things up with a run in the 3rd and a solo home run in the 6th. After scoreless 7th and 8th innings,
Thomas Powell would come through with a clutch RBI single to right field. After striking out the first two batters,
Nate Roof would walk a batter to put the tying run on base. However, he would then record the final out to preserve the win for the Crusaders.
Landon Shaw posted 2 hits, both of them doubles, as well as an RBI and a run scored.
Kaleb Hall went 2 for 3 at the plate.
Nate Lamb put together a solid start, pitching 6.0 innings to allow just 1 earned run on 2 hits and 1 walk while striking out 6.
North Greenville will return to action on Wednesday, March 27th against the Cobras of Coker University in Hartsville, South Carolina.
