From Coach Stober
"Overall, I thought we had a really good weekend. We had a lot of personal bests which contributed to a good showing by our team this weekend.
In her first ever 3K Steeplechase, Riley Shope set a new school record. I'm excited to see what she can do in that event moving forward. Kacey Miller ran almost a three minute PB in the same race. It was awesome to watch her have such a strong performance. Joie Owens had an impressive showing in the javelin in only her second time throwing the spear, ending up with a new PB.
Riley Nicholson probably had the most impressive meet in my opinion. She ran two PBs (1500 and 800) on the same day in a matter of a few hours. Shachiah Paul ran a PB in the 100 going under 14 seconds for the first time in her career. JoAnn Smiling ran a PB in the 400. Kylie Futrell ran lifetime PB in the 5K. I'm happy that she was able to run a PB in the 5K during her senior season.
On the men's side Miles Stephens continues to impress. He ran a PB in the 200 and almost broke the 21 second barrier. His time of 21.05 seconds is a NCAA DII provisional mark and will put him high on the national list. He also anchored our 4x400 relay and brought us from third place to first place.
Bryce Hamby and
Josh White ran PBs in the 100.
Today being Josh's first time under 11 seconds. In the jumps, Terrique won the open section of the long jump and Royal had an outdoor PB in the triple. The 800 was a big event for us this weekend.
Ben Jaminet ran a PB and his time should be towards the top of the conference.
Mason White and
Thomas Schilling also ran PBs in the 800 after coming off the 1500 a few hours before. Other PBs include Nick Lavelle (1500), Chas Brewer (5K), and
Chandler Barnett (110H).
Hopefully we can get some folks healthy over the next couple of weeks and have another strong showing when we compete again."
