Tigerville, SC - The North Greenville Crusaders dropped a nonconference contest to the Falcons of the University of Montevallo with a final score of 22-9 at Pepsi Stadium. NGU was able to get off to a strong start, scoring the first three goals of the game. However, the Falcons would take over throughout the remainder of the 1st quarter, scoring eight straight goals to take an 8-3 lead. The Crusaders fought back to take the final goals of the quarter as well as the first goal of the second quarter, but Montevallo would go on another run, scoring four consecutive goals. A goal by
Connor Brewington cut the deficit to six as the two teams went into halftime with a score of 12-6. UM continued to carry the momentum by scoring the first three goals of the 3rd quarter.
Sean Mullineaux and
Tyler Pellegrino found the back of the net to score consecutive goals for North Greenville, but the Falcons would pull away further with five straight goals. After a goal by
Christian Cechini, the Falcons closed out the game with the final two goals to leave Tigerville with a marginal victory. Montevallo led the afternoon in total shots 57-44 while NGU was able to lead in ground balls 32-25 and was a perfect 21-21 in clears.
Christian Cechini led NGU with 2 goals and 3 assists and also posted a ground ball.
Connor Brewington also scored 2 goals along with an assist.
Bryce Cordingley posted a goal, 2 assists, and a ground ball.
The Crusaders will return to action on Wednesday, March 20th against the Lions of Emmanuel University at Pepsi Stadium.
