Tigerville – North Greenville rode the strength of a big first half on Friday night to power past Shorter University 37 – 17 to wrap up the 2024 season.
The Trailblazers jumped on the Hawks quickly scoring a pair of first quarter touchdowns to take a 13 – 0 lead. Dre Williams scored his 9
th touchdown of the season on a 30 – yard reception while
Semaj Jenkins scored his first career touchdown, a six yard rushing score. Jenkins was North Greenville's leading rusher with 69 – yards on just seven attempts.
The Hawks took advantage of an NGU turnover which led to their first score and added a field goal for their 10 – first half points. The Trailblazers answered with three touchdowns in the second quarter.
Jacob Walker scored on a two – yard run while
Dylan Ramirez scored on the ground from five yards out. The big strike came from
Cameron Walker who reeled in a 65 – yard score from Ramirez which extended NGU's lead to 34 – 10.
Shorter tacked on a touchdown in the second half but NGU's defense held the hawks scoreless in the fourth quarter. NGU added a
Brandon Bowman field goal in the third to extend the lead.
North Greenville finished with 482 – yards of offense including 331 – yards through he air. Dre Williams led all receivers with 120 – yards on nine catches and a score. He finishes his career with 3,022 yards of total offense.
RJ Glasgow led NGU on defense with seven tackles with one tackle for a loss.
Friday's win secured NGU's first winning record since the 2016 season.
