Tigerville, SC - North Greenville kept up with the 23rd ranked Lee University Flames in the shot column, but was unable to turn those shots into goals as NGU fell to the Flames with a final score of 3-0 tonight at Pepsi Stadium. NGU ended the night leading in total shots 11-10 and matched Lee with six shots on goal. However, the Lee defense was ultimately able to preserve the shutout.
Lee's first goal came early as they found the back of the net within the first four minutes of the match. The score would remain the same for the remainder of the half, but nearly seven minutes into the second half the Flames would strike again with their second goal. With time running out on NGU, Lee would put the final nail in the coffin with a third goal in the 80th minute. The Crusaders would continue to be aggressive on offense, but time would run out as the Flames were able to complete the shutout and remain undefeated.
Yessine Bessaies was the only Crusaders to post multiple shots, finishing with two and one on goal.
Michel Weber posted three saves for the night.
North Greenville will return to action on Saturday, September 9th against the Limestone Saints at Pepsi Stadium.
