Tigerville, SC - The North Greenville Crusaders put together a sweep of the Flying Fleet of Erskine College this afternoon at Jan McDonald Field, winning game one in dramatic fashion with a final score of 10-9 then dominating game two to win 9-1. NGU was down to its final out as one more out would have resulted in the game ending early due to the mercy rule. North Greenville trailed the Flying Fleet 9-1 with two outs in the bottm of the sixth. However,
Virginia Bishop would extend the game with a solo shot. From there, the Crusaders would go on to score nine runs in the inning to take the lead.
Ali Hartin went on to record the final out as North Greenville would hang on for the unlikely victory. Hartin was the winning pitcher. NGU continued the momentum in game two, scoring six runs in the bottom of the first inning including a three run home run by
Brianna McRae and a bases-clearing triple by
Madison Pride. The Crusaders would go on to score two more runs in the second and another run in the third. Erskine would get on the board with an RBI walk in the fourth, but that would be it as the game would come to an early end in the fifth due to the mercy rule.
Karley Green pitched a complete game and took the win.
