Tigerville, SC - The North Greenville Crusaders put up a solid fight in the first quarter but were overpowered for the remainder of the game and ultimately falling to the Belmont Abbey Crusaders with a final score of 14-6 this afternoon at Pepsi Stadium. North Greenville led the afternoon in total shots, shots on goal, ground balls, and committed less turnovers than Belmont Abbey. However, NGU had issues turning 24 shots on goal into goals thanks to an impressive individual effort by BAC goalkeeper Thomas Sullivan. Clears also proved to be an issue for NGU as they would fail to clear the ball six times throughout the game. After falling behind 3-1, NGU bounced back with two straight goals to tie the game at 3-3 in the first. Belmont Abbey scored the final goal of the first quarter then pulled away in the second with four goals to take an 8-3 lead into halftime. BAC scored five of the next six to lead by as much as nine. NGU was able to score two of the final three, but Belmont Abbey would ultimately finish with an eight point victory.
