NGU Completes Sweeps of Erskine

Tigerville, SC - The North Greenville Crusaders completed a conference sweep of the Erskine Flying Fleet with a doubleheader victory, winning game one with a final score of 7-2 and winning game two with a score of 5-3 at Ray & Bea Dillard Field. Reece Fields and Brody Fowler recorded wins while Dawson Taylor and Nate Roof posted saves. North Greenville took a 1-0 lead in the first inning of game one after a sacrifice fly by Davis Lewis. Erskine would take the lead with two runs in the third inning, but North Greenville would come through in the fourth with a big inning that resulted in six runs including two-run home runs by Zach Zarra and Cory Bivins. With the bases loaded in the sixth inning, Dawson Taylor was able to get NGU out of trouble by retiring the side, eventually pitching the seventh inning as well to record the save. In game two, Erskine took an early 2-0 lead in the first due to two solo shots. Andrew Kaminsky would get the Crusaders on the board with a solo shot of his own. The Flying Fleet would put one more run on the board in the fourth, but the Crusaders would respond with four runs in the bottom of the inning. Both teams would record just one more base hit throughout the remainder of the game, with Nate Roof earning the save in the ninth inning.

  • Reece FIelds recorded his fifth win of the season, pitching 5.1 strong innings and allowing just two runs on four hits. Fields struck out seven and did not record a walk.
