Tigerville, SC - The North Greenville Crusaders put together a productive day offensively on a windy afternoon at Ray & Bea Dillard Field, defeating the Bearcats of Lander University with a final score of 19-7. NGU pulled away early, scoring five runs in the first including a two run home run by
Pat Monteith. A three run home run by
David Lewis would lead to a four run second inning to lead 9-0. After the Bearcats were able to get on the board with two runs in the top of the third, NGU responded with two runs of their own in the bottom of the inning. A run by Lander in the fifth was followed by four runs in the bottom of the fifth and two additional runs in the sixth by NGU. Control issues on the mound would lead to a four run seventh inning by the Bearcats. However, the Crusaders would close out the scoring with two runs in the eighth. A total of eight NGU pitchers saw playing time with
Brody Fowler taking the win with the first 3.0 innings pitched.
