Tigerville, SC - The North Greenville Crusaders remained undefeated after completing the sweep of the Barton Bulldogs in the first series in conference play this afternoon at Ray & Bea Dillard Field. The Bulldogs put up a challenge as North Greenville would narrowly take game two of the series with a final score of 3-2. Barton took an early lead in the top of the second, but NGU would quickly respond with three runs in the bottom of the third including a two-run home run by
Pat Monteith. The Bulldogs cut the deficit to one with an RBI on a sacrifice bunt, but
Dawson Taylor would pitch the final inning and earn the save to clinch the series for the Crusaders.
Reece Fields earned his second win of the season. Game two saw
Caleb Cox take the mound for the start. After three scoreless innings, NGU would get on the board when Carter Dierford triples down the right field line to score a run. A two-run home run by
Marek Chlup in the bottom of the fifth extended the lead to three. After a scoreless sixth and seventh, Chlup would add an insurance run with his second home run of the game.
Nate Roof would close out the game with a scoreless ninth inning.
