Conference Play Begins with Win Over Erskine

The North Greenville Crusaders emerged victorious in the first conference match of the 2022 season, leaving Due West with a 3-1 victory against the Flying Fleet of Erskine College. NGU dropped the first set but recovered by taking the next three sets.including a dominating third set. Both teams struggled with errors to open up the match, and although North Greenville led set one in attack percentage, Erskine would lead in kills which proved to be enough to win the opening set 25-22. The Crusaders would recover in set two as a .190 attack percentage with fifteen kills would be enough to take the second set 25-18. Set three proved to be North Greenville's strongest of the night, finishing with a .480 attack percentage and a one-sided score of 25-14. The Flying Fleet would put up their highest attack percentage of the match in set four at .175. However, that would not be enough as NGU's .278 attack percentage would put the Crusaders over yet a again with a score of 25-21 to end the match. North Greenville led the night with sixty-six kills, fifty-two kills, twelve blocks, fifty assists, and sixty-four digs. Erskine did lead in service aces with eight.

  • Paige Campbell put together a career night, finishing with eighteen kills, her highest as a Crusader. She also posted four total blocks and two digs.
  • Abigail Durham finished with fourteen kills, three total blocks, and two digs.
  • Chandler Morrell also hit double digit kills with ten. She also provided seven digs, four block assists, and an assist.
