The North Greenville Crusaders began their weekend series with a one-sided victory over the Braves of UNC Pembroke with a final score of 15-1 to claim 1st place in the Conference Carolinas standings. It was an all-out dominating win for NGU, posting nineteen hits including seven extra-base hits while the pitching staff allowed just three hits and did not give up a single walk. UNCP took an early 1-0 lead in the bottom of the 1st. However, that lead would not last long as the Crusaders responded in the top of the 2nd with three runs including an RBI double by
Darrien Whitaker and an RBI triple by
Cory Bivins. NGU pulled away further in the top of the 4th with four runs including a solo home run by
Pat Monteith. Three innings later, North Greenville would pull away even further in the 7th by scoring four additional runs including home runs by
Marek Chlup and
Josh Senter. Four more insurance runs would come in the 8th including an RBI double by
John Michael Faile.
Jax Cash pitched the opening 5.0 innings and earned the win.
