From Coach Stober
"Our team had a great weekend. It was fun to be able to take a longer trip and to race on a course that we've never run on before. We were able to compete against some other teams that we don't normally have the opportunity to see during the regular season.
Overall, both teams ran well. Our big focus was to close the gap from our top 2 runners to our 3 through 5 runners. I feel like we did that.
We had some individuals that ran really well today. For the men,
Hayden Goode ran a lifetime PB and is now #2 all-time in school history for men's 8K. Jaxon Beebe also ran a lifetime PB and did a good job running as our #4 today. I thought Ryland and Matthew both had good races and worked well together throughout.
On the women's side, Avery Shope ran a collegiate PB and is now the school record holder (as a true freshman) for women's 5K. Riley Nicholson showed a lot of toughness. She went out hard and was able to hang on to run well as our #3. She ended up running a collegiate PB. Both Beka and Paris had phenomenal races. We knew it was only a matter of time for Beka, because she has looked really strong with her training for a while now. She ran a huge lifetime PB. Paris had a big bounce back race. I was really proud of how she went after it today, and she ended up running a collegiate PB. Zoie also had a good race and ended up running a lifetime PB.
As always, I'm proud of our team. They are a great bunch. We've got two weeks before conference, so we've just got to do everything we can to be our best going into that meet."
