Crusaders Lead Late but Fall to #14 West Florida

Pensacola, FL – North Greenville led by a pair of scores as the game entered the fourth quarter but the Argos scored 24 – points in the final 15 – minutes to escape with a 34 – 31 win over the Crusaders. 
 
It was another shootout between two offenses that finished with 972 – yards of total yardage. North Greenville threw for 321 – yards while the Argos did more damage on the ground, running for 299 – yards. 
 
The Crusaders led 23 – 10 heading into the fourth quarter, a lead that the Argos would quickly erase. An opening quarter score and a North Greenville turnover which turned in to a touchdown would give the Argos their first lead of the game at 24 – 23. 
 
North Greenville responded quickly. The Crusaders put together an 81 – yard drive in just six plays to retake a touchdown advantage. The drive was capped with a 21 – yard touchdown pass from Dylan Ramirez to  AJ Tolbert. NGU converted a two-point conversion to make the lead seven. 
 
An Argos touchdown with 2:58 left evened things at 31 a piece but left North Greenville with time to win it late. An interception by the Argos would end NGU's ensuing drive after just three plays. The extra possession would turn in to a game winning field goal for UWF as the clock expired.
 
Box Score 
  • Dylan Ramirez had another good week as the signal caller, throwing for 295 – yards on 23 attempts and a pair of touchdowns. He threw two interceptions. 
  • Doug Washington had a pair of touchdown catches and finished with 62 – yards on five receptions. AJ Tolbert had one touchdown on two catches for 42 – yards. 
  • Demetris McKelvey had a career day. The true freshman had two catches for 55 – yards and his first career touchdown. McKelvey also threw for a touchdown. 
  • Corey Watkins led NGU with 78 – yards on 14 – carries. 
  • Kendrick Clark led North Greenville with six stops along with Termaine Epps. 
  • The Crusaders continued to turn over opponents with another interception, the second of the year for Dantevian Byrd
  • Shane Monsanto had NGU's only sack.

Its back to Tigerville for the Crusaders who host Delta State next Saturday.
