Big plays propel North Greenville to lopsided win over Limestone

Box Score Tigerville – Big plays and timely defense boosted North Greenville to a 37-16 win over Limestone on Saturday evening in NGU's fist game back in more than two years. 

Results

Recap 

  • North Greenville took the opening kickoff and drove it 75-yards on eight plays. Kaelan Riley found Matthew Martin from 40-yards out for the first score of the game and the season. The Saints countered with a field goal on their opening drive. 
  • NGU's answer to the Limestone score came in the form of Riley's second passing score of the day, this time finding Cale Swift who took it 18-yards, making it 14-3. Riley connected with Dre Williams out of the backfield later in the first half for his third TD of the game, earning the Crusaders a 21-3 lead at intermission. 
  • Limestone's first drive of the second half was cut short when NGU's Kameron Burton picked off a Dustin Noller pass at the NGU two yard line for the first turnover of the game. 
  • North Greenville capitalized on the extra possession in a big way as Dre Williams took it 94-yards two players later to extend the lead to 28-3. 
  • NGU's special teams would come up big two drives later when Cale Swift blocked an LU punt that went out of the endzone to make it 30-10 after Limestone's first touchdown of the game a drive earlier. 
  • Riley got on the board once more before the clock ticked down when he found Logan Byrd for his fourth score of the day and Byrd's first career touchdown reception. 
  • North Greenville finished with 458 yards of total offense and was 8 of 15 on third down for the game. 

Individual

  • Kaelan Riley finished with four passing touchdowns and 246-yards through the air. He was 16-25 passing for the game. He threw touchdowns to four different receivers. 
  • Dre Williams tacked on 179-yards rushing and a touchdown on the ground He also added 27 receiving yards and a receiving touchdown. 
  • Defensively De'Iveon Donald led with nine tackles. 
  • Cale Swift finished the day with a touchdown and was also credited with two blocked punts.

  • North Greenville heads south to take on Newberry College at 6 PM.
