Box Score North Greenville was upset by the 5th seeded Barton College Bulldogs with a final score of 11-9 this afternoon at Fleming Stadium in Wilson, North Carolina. The lead changed several times throughout the high-scoring contest, but the Bulldogs would grab the final lead of the game in the 8th and hang on for the victory. NGU will face the loser of tonight's game between the Mount Olive Trojans and the King University Tornado tomorrow with the winner advancing in the tournament and the losing team heading home. John Michael Faile put together a strong performance, posting three hits including a home run.

Recap

• Christian Ryder would take the mound for the start, but Barton would get on the board early with a two-run home run in the 1st. However, it wouldn't take long for the Crusaders to respond as John Michael Faile would hit a solo shot in the top of the 1st and Jax Cash would tie the game with an RBI single in the 2nd. The Bulldogs took the lead back in the top of the 3rd with a solo home run of their own, but NGU bounced back again with a solo home run by Douglas Angeli and a two-RBI double by Brady West. BC once again took the lead back in the top of the 4th with a four-run inning including a three-run homer to take a 7-5 lead. The Crusaders were able to get a run across in the bottom of the inning with an RBI by Angeli. Both teams scored a run in the 5th with NGU's being yet another solo home run, this time by Brady West. Down by one in the 6th, Ethan Stringer would give NGU the lead back with a home run down the left field line. A sacrifice fly in the top of the 7th would tie the game at 9-9, and the top of the 8th would see Barton reclaim the lead with a two-run home run. The 9th inning would be the only inning throughout the entire game to go scoreless, with the Crusaders going three-up, three-down in the inning. Brent Herlong was charged with the loss.
