Crusaders Split Series With Lees-McRae

The North Greenville Crusaders and Lees-McRae Bobcats split their two-game series this afternoon in Banner Elk, North Carolina. Game one resulted in a 1-0 win for the Bobcats while NGU would fight back with a 3-2 victory in game two. With the weekend wrapped up, the Crusaders hold a 4-4 record in the Conference Carolinas standings, and are currently tied with the Barton Bulldogs and Emmanuel Lions for 6th place.

Jaelin Griffin pitched a gem in game one, allowing just one run on seven hits and one walk while striking out eleven. However, that one run would prove to be all the Bobcats needed as NGU would be shutout in the game.

North Greenville fought back to take game two. In the top of the 3rd, Josie Reed would knock in the first run of the game with an RBI single to right field. Lees-McRae would take the lead in the bottom of the inning with two runs, but NGU would reclaim the lead in the top of the 6th by way of a two-run home run by Carmen Silvester. Bailey Pace, who pitched 4.2 strong innings of relief, earned the win.

Aschlyn Hutto posted 3 hits and a run scored.
Carmen Silvester hit a two-run home run.

The Crusaders will return to action on Wednesday, March 24th against Benedict College in Tigerville.
