North Greenville Completes Comeback Victory to Remain Undefeated

The North Greenville Crusaders shocked the Emmanuel Lions this afternoon in Franklin Springs, Georgia by completing a come from behind victory with a final score of 3-2. NGU was dominated in the opening two sets, but stormed back to take the final three sets to remain undefeated with a record of 6-0. Emilie Allen led NGU with 14 kills.

Recap
  • North Greenville began the opening set on a good note, taking a 7-4 lead, but the Lions would respond with a five point run to take a 9-7 lead. Momentum would swing back to the Crusaders who put together a 7-2 run, but from there Emmanuel would go on to carry the momentum for the remainder of the set, ultimately winning it 25-22.
  • After a quick 3-1 lead for North Greenville, the Lions would go on to dominate the set from there. Down ten, NGU would get a small amount of momentum to close out the set, scoring four of five points, but EC would end up taking the final five points to dominate the 2nd set with a score of 25-13.
  • Early on in set three, it seemed like Emmanuel was poised to end the match early by leading 5-2 and eventually 9-6. However, North Greenville wouldn't go down with a fight and would close the deficit to a point. Momentum would shift several times between the two teams, but the Crusaders would put up the final momentum swing to take the third set 25-23.
  • Set four would be more of the same as Emmanuel would take an early lead with NGU fighting back to even things up. Once again, both teams would put up several runs throughout the set, but the Crusaders would go on to score six of the final eight points to win set four 25-22 to force a fifth set.
  • NGU stunned Emmanuel early on in the final set, jumping ahead to a 7-0 lead. The Lions would slowly fight back but would never get within striking distance as the Crusaders would hang on to take the final set with a score of 15-11 to complete the comeback victory.
Individual
  • Emilie Allen put together a solid performance, leading the team in kills with 14. She also provided 2 digs.
  • Abigail Durham also hit double digits with 11 kills while also posting 4 digs and 2 block assists.
  • Ashlyn Conner provided 29 assists as well as 6 digs at setter.

  • The Crusaders will head to Spartanburg, SC on Tuesday, March 23rd to face the Converse Valkyries.
