Jaelin Griffin Pitches One-Hitter as Crusaders Sweep Augusta

North Greenville completed the sweep of the Augusta Jaguars with final scores of 4-0 and 8-3 in Augusta, Georgia. The Crusaders recorded a total of 19 hits while giving up just 9. Jaelin Griffin pitched a one-hitter in game one and also pitched three innings in game two to earn both wins for the day.

Recap
  • Pitching would dominate the first three innings of game one. However, Brianna McRae would change that in the top of the 4th with a three-run home run to put the Crusaders on the board. After two more scoreless innings, NGU would add an insurance run by way of a solo home run by Lauren Earls. Augusta would get one runner on base in the bottom of the 7th, but Jaelin Griffin would record a strikeout and a lineout to end the game, completing the shutout and earning the win.
  • NGU would get the offense going early in game two, scoring two runs in the 1st by way of an RBI single by Josie Reed and an error that allowed Reed to later score. Augusta would come back to tie the game in the 3rd with a two-run double, and would take the lead in the 3rd by way of a solo home run. Brianna McRae would tie things up again in the top of the 5th with an RBI single to center field. One inning later, Brooklyn Stone put the Crusaders back on top with an RBI single to left field. Josie Reed would then triple to right field, scoring two runs. She would then score thanks to Brianna McRae reaching 1st on an error. North Greenville added an insurance run in the top of the 7th thanks to an RBI single to center field by Taylor Koon. Augusta would get two on base in the bottom of the 7th, but NGU would keep the Jaguars off the board, securing the win.

  • Jaelin Griffin was dominant on the mound, pitching a 1-hitter in game one and 3 innings in game two to earn both wins for the day.
  • Brooklyn Stone recorded 4 hits for the day with 3 runs scored and an RBI.
  • Brianna McRae posted 3 hits including a 3-run HR. She knocked in a total of 5 RBIs for the day.
