NGU Victorious Over King in Overtime

North Greenville came out on top against the King Tornado in a high-scoring contest that required overtime. The Crusaders came out on top with a final score of 103-100 and shot 55.6% from the field. Four Crusaders hit double digits in points. Jacob Redding led in points with 22.

Recap
  • The opening half would start off on an even note as neither team would lead by more than four over the first 8 minutes. Leading by one, the Tornado connected with two three pointers to take a seven point lead. Eventually trailing by 11, the Crusaders would get back into the game with a fourteen point run. King would end the half with the final four points to lead by one point going into halftime.
  • Both teams would continue to shoot well to begin the 2nd half. However, North Greenville would begin to distance themselves, building up a double digit lead. King quickly closed the gap back up with a ten point run. The Crusaders spent most of the half with a small lead, but the Tornado would connect with two clutch three pointer late in the half to tie things back up. Jalon Cokley would put up a last second three pointer, but that shot would miss and overtime would be required. 
  • King would start off overtime with a dunk to take the lead. Both teams would remain neck and neck, but late in the period Jacob Redding would give the Crusaders the lead back with a layup and a foul. After making the free throw, King attempted one last three pointer, which would be unsuccessful and the Crusaders would hang on for the victory.

  • Jacob Redding led the Crusaders in points with 22 while also providing 3 rebounds and an assist.
  • Jalon Cokley had a solid day with 21 points, and also posted 4 rebounds, 2 steals, and an assist.
  • C.J. Jamison scored 19 points. He also posted 4 rebounds and a steal.
