The Conference Carolinas West Division champion North Greenville Crusaders are set to face the Braves of UNC Pembroke in the semifinals of the Conference Carolinas Tournament tonight in Bristol, Tennessee.
North Greenville finished the regular season with a 20-8 overall record and a 14-4 record in conference play. The Crusaders led the conference in multiple categories with a .230 hitting percentage, 11.97 assists per set, 2.41 service aces per set, .129 opponent hitting percentage, 8.45 opponent assists per set, 9.05 opponent kills per set, and 11.46 opponent digs per set. NGU also finished 2nd in kills per set with 12.65.
UNC Pembroke wrapped up the regular season with a 22-10 overall record and a 14-3 conference record. As the #2 seed in the East Division, the Braves defeated the #4 seeded Erskine Flying Fleet 3-0 to advance to the semifinals. UNCP was the only team to finish above the Crusaders in kills per set, narrowly leading with 12.66. The Braves finished 2nd in hitting percentage .208 and 3rd in assists per set with 11.39, service aces with 1.97, opponent service aces with 1.52, and opponent digs with 15.71.
The two teams faced each other earlier in the season on September 16th in Tigerville, with the Braves taking a 3-1 victory.
