Acker and Duenas Score For First Time This Season In Win Over Erskine

Tigerville, SC - The North Greenville Crusaders finished up conference play in the regular season with a 2-0 win over the Flying Fleet of Erskine College on a chili evening at Pepsi Stadium. NGU narrowly edged the Fleet in total shots 10-9 and Gage Acker as well as Sebastian Duenas scored their first goals as Crusaders. NGU finishes conference play with a 4-5-2 record, which currently places the Crusaders 6th in the standings.

Recap
  • Goalkeeper Reno Van der Meer would quickly record his first save of the match as the Flying Fleet were able to get on a shot on goal just over thirty seconds into the match. Both teams were able get some offense going with the Flying Fleet edging out the Crusaders in shots for the half 7-6, but the two teams would ultimately go into halftime with a scoreless tie.
  • Early on in the second half, the scoreless tie would come to an end as Gage Acker would score his first goal as a Crusader with an assist by Kalvin Semedo. Not long after, Semedo would record a second assist when Sebastian Duenas also found the back of the net to give NGU a 2-0 lead. Both teams were limited offensively for the remainder of the half as NGU would hang on to preserve the win as well as the shutout. The Crusaders led in shots for the half 4-2.

  • Gage Acker and Sebastian Duenas both score their first goals of the season, which were also their first goals as Crusaders.
